Il Giorno, [The Day] is a part of a set of four statues in the New Sacristy in the Basilica of  San Lorenzo in Florence, Italy.

The Day is one of the four allegories of the 'Parts of the Day' and is on the right of the sarcophagus of the tomb of a member of the Medici family.  This statue is in a pose opposite to The Night.  The head of the sculpture is looking over his right shoulder to the viewer and his leg is crossed in the opposite direction to the direction of his view.  It is like he is has been distracted to look at something that has caught his attention.

The original statues were created by Michelangelo in the early 1500s.

This statuette in bronze leaf coated resin is 215mm high and approximately 220mm in width.  It has felt pad on the base.
