On the base of the jar the artist has inscribed by hand the where the jar has been made and painted. 'MOD' stands for 'Majolica of Deruta' and below it is 'Deruta, Italy' followed by 'Dip. A Mano', which translates from Italian to 'Painted by Hand'.
The jar measures 70mm in height and and approximately 80mm in diameter at the widest point. The volumetric capacity of the jug is approximately 0.16 litres.
