This hand-painted Deruta Onion Jar with lid is designed to store small onions or anything else you like on your bench-top - it has the Italian word "Cipolla'" (Onion) painted on in a parchment  banner on the front of the jar.  The rear of the jar features 3 holes to allow for ventilation.

The design 'Corallo' which is Italian for 'Coral' is so called due to the use of 'Coral Red'.  It also features yellow fruit and green foliage.  The inside of the jar is painted in white.  This jar has been hand painted by artists in Deruta.  

On the base of the jar, the artist has hand painted the inscription MOD in a diamond which stands for 'Majolica of Deruta'. Underneath this is 'Deruta Italy' where the jar has been made and then 'Dip. a Mano' which means 'Painted by Hand'.

The jar measures 150mm to the very top of the lid and 140mm in external diameter.  This jar could be used of course for storing anything on your bench-top and in itself will add colour and class to your kitchen.
