This is a gorgeous hand-painted Italian ceramic Biscotti jar with lid. The design features a large number of blue flowers and a bird centred under the 'Biscotti' label. This biscotti label is set on a styalised parchment. On each side there is a lion's head with a blue ring below it. The lid features a matching design and has a convenient handle on top.
On the base of the jar the artist has inscribed by hand the where the jar has been made and painted. 'MOD' stands for 'Majolica of Deruta' and below it is 'Deruta, Italy' followed by 'Dip. A Mano', which translates from Italian to 'Painted by Hand'.
The jar measures just over 250mm from the base to the top of the handle on the lid and the base is just under 170mm in diameter.
